Update on Scott Media Speakers

I only launched Scott Media Speakers two weeks ago – and it was only a soft launch, but we’ve already had one booking!

As mentioned in previous blogs about the new venture, we’re bridging the gap in the market for more affordable speakers. There are a lot of speaker agencies out there that prioritise high-profile speakers who expect substantial fees, but we are recognising the importance of exclusivity.  We also acknowledge that not all speakers are solely motivated by financial gain, and some speakers may be fundraising for charities.

People who are in Scott Media Speakers will be put into one of four tiers – based on several factors, such as their levels of experience and their motivation for speaking. The choice of tiers is down to me.

What has happened so far:

  • Already, we have 44 people who have signed up. This years we’ve made the decision to cap the number at 50 to give us time to manage everything. This will include monthly social media exposure for each speaker across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and our Speaker Spotlight email newsletter.
  • We have a range of people amongst our new members. Authors, Paralympians, a financial advisor, business coaches, an HR professional, a coin specialist, TV presenter, anaphylaxis advocate, a musician and a breast cancer specialist. A very wide range of speakers, as you can see.
  • Some people however, have unrealistic expectations about what Scott Media Speakers is offering.

One person wanted to know which companies I’d pitch my speakers to, before they joined. I’m not going directly to specific companies, or be sending out profiles to match the speaker’s specific area or industry.

Another was expecting me to find them 3 bookings for May. Again, that isn’t how the speaker’s group will work.

As I mentioned above, each month I will introduce four speakers on a LinkedIn newsletter.

The first four speakers are all in different tiers.

Debbie Bryan is an award-winning coach, TEDx speaker and business strategist renowned for her dynamic approach to personal and professional development.

Fi Da Silva Adams is the passionate Founder & CEO of Revolution Performing Arts (RPA) Ltd and RPA Rapport CIC. She has over 35 years of experience in the performing arts industry.

Dr Hugo De La Peña MD, PhD, FRCP, a renowned cancer specialist and clinical adviser. Dr Hugo specialises in breast cancer research and personalised cancer medicine for his patients. He is also a professional speaker about breast cancer, prevention and treatment.

Paul Martin, a renowned TV antiques expert for over two decades, also boasts a career as an antiques and arts dealer spanning 35 years.
